After a long time, we are finally back doing club meets without restrictions.
Myself and James from RZOC head down to Braintree in his ZE50 and have a good chat about what Renault could have done better with the Renault ZOE (Not mentioning the AirBag Issue) But what are your thoughts on what Renault could have done better now the ZE50 has been out for a few years.
Adaptive cruise control - otherwise all good!
We run a ZE50 R110, and are generally happy with it, especially the greater range than Renault claim. [I'm seeing over 5.4 miles per kWh in Summer, and about 4.8 in Winter.] No car is perfect, so here are a few items which would transform the car, mostly for not much extra cost, and in no particular order. Some could be implemented in software or firmware, with no problems:
1] It needs a proper display of recharging speed, in kWh. It's a pain when you connect to a charging outlet, and only discover that it's charging too slowly, after wasting time without knowing immediately that it's running slowly. That happened with my local station, where outlet 'A' was running a…
I have a 2020 ZE50, bought new in Feb 2021 with just over 10k on the odometer (dealership loaner car).
As of today I have a total of 27300 kilometers on the odometer so OK let's start a list:
1. Much faster rapid charging. Like at least up to 75kw so that I could charge as fast as most other new BEVs here in the Netherlands.
2. 2 cup holders in the center console would be BEYOND WONDERFUL!! Also not hiding them under the drivers arm rest.
3. And better OTA map updates that are newer than 16 months old at the time of update( I live in a completely new neighborhood and the navigation system thinks I'm driving off…
Only software issues, or stuff that could be changed "easy".
Control over the battery preheat. So that I can decide what the battery temp should be at departure time, not only the compartment. Battery preheat possible during driving so that I never would end up at a charging place and be limited by a cold battery (limit charging to 6kW even on a 22kW charger and SoC at 20% (battery temp at -5C)).
True instantaneous kWh/100km instead of kW only (or by choosing, or even both at the same time).
A second set of trip registers so I could try out various driving speeds etc. during trips.
Choice of automatic zeroing the trip registers after a full charge.

Yes! Why keep changing the pollen filter..?
